Taylor Reveals Why She Didn’t Address The Fan’s Death On-Stage
Taylor addressed the fan’s passing in a post made to her Instagram Story the evening of her death. At the time, Anas’s name hadn’t been publicly released.
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” the pop star wrote. “I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.”
“There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young,” Taylor continued.
Taylor carried on with the Eras concert, despite the fan’s death, but she didn’t comment on the passing during the performance, and she addressed her silence in the IG post.
“I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it,” Taylor explained. “I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”
Taylor Demanded Water For Dehydrated Fans
Temperatures were record-high in Brazil during the day of Taylor’s performance. Even during the concert, now-viral footage shows the singer requesting venue employees get crowd members water after some concert-goers began chanting “water” in Portuguese and English. There were also homemade signs requesting the same thing.
“There’s people that need water,” she said at one point during the show after noticing signage. “Whoever is in charge of giving them that, make sure that happens.”
