Fans Are Loving Queen Latifah In Gender-Bending Reboot Of Crime Drama 'The Equalizer'

Queen Latifah is the star of the latest gender-bending reboot of crime drama The Equalizer.

The vigilante character was originally portrayed by British actor Edward Woodward in a 1980s series airing on NBC. Denzel Washington then played the role in the 2014 movie of the same name and its 2018 sequel.

In the brand-new series premiered on CBS on February 7 after the Super Bowl, Robert “Bob” McCall turns into Robyn McCall, played by Latifah.

The first reactions to Latifah’s turn as McCall are definitely positive, praising the show’s take on the superhero genre.

The Equalizer Cast Features ‘Sex And The City’ Star

The series also stars Sex and the City alum Chris Noth in the role of an ex-CIA director, as well as Adam Goldberg in the role of a hacker and Liza Lapira as Melody, a former Air Force sniper turned bar owner and friend of Robyn. McCall’s daughter Delilah is played by Laya DeLeon Hayes.

Queen Latifah reacted to the outpouring of support by tweeting her very own Equalizer joke following the season premiere.

“I think I speak for everyone when I say,” she wrote, captioning a GIF of herself saying “damn”.
