Report: Update On Drew McIntyres Contract Talks With WWE
A new report shines some light on the status of Drew McIntyre‘s contract with WWE.
In October, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that McIntyre still had not re-signed with WWE. His current contract is set to expire around WrestleMania 40 in April.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that the two sides have not entered into deep discussions on a new deal. Per Johnson, WWE’s stance is that there is a lot of time to still negotiate. The report notes that McIntyre has told those close to him that he is “more than willing” to let his current deal lapse and take a break from wrestling to be with his family.
Additionally, Johnson cites sources who noted that McIntyre has told friends that he would like to spend extended time in Scotland. He has been unable to have more than a quick visit for years.
Johnson also writes that McIntyre is more than willing to let his family come first over a new contract if it comes to it. However, there is still plenty of time to negotiate. Per Johnson, there is no word of negative issues between McIntyre and WWE.
WrestleZone will provide more information about Drew McIntyre’s contract status as it becomes available.
